The most common pitfalls for well-formed and valid XML are given below:

  • Have one and only one root element
  • Have closing tags for every element
  • Not have any overlapping elements
  • Have all attributes enclosed in quotes

There are two separate formats for schemas supported by .NET

  • XSD – XML Schema Definition language
  • SDR – XML Data Reduced schemas.
